Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bus deregulation has brought several independent operators into areas of Derbyshire previously served by National Bus subsidiary Trent Motor Traction.

Three vehicle operator Cantrills of Alfreton registered four journeys a day without support on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between Alfreton, Crich and the previously served village of Fritchley. This Duple Viceroy bodied Bedford carried a dozen passengers on one of its first journeys.

A contract for a countycouncil supported network based on Crich was gained by Maim International of Mansfield, Notts, whose newly-acquired bus fleet includes this ECW-bodied Bristol RE, seen at Crich Market Place on the Mondays to Saturdays Crich-Alfreton service. It connects here with county-supported Maim services to Ripley. Be!per and Matlock.

Some of the long through routes, such as MatlockCrich-Alfreton, have ceased, and there are now no Sunday services in this area. Maun fares are similar to previous Trent fares, while Cantrill charges a flat 35p any distance. Trent fares in some other areas were increased from deregulation day.
