IN Maintenance problems have lead to the authorisation of 39 vehicles and 63 trailers on the licence of Sheffield hauliers R. H. Kitchen being cut to 10 vehicles and 25 trailers by North Eastern Licensing Authority Frederick Whalley.

Evidence was given by a vehicle examiner of prohibition notices imposed on the 15 vehicles and 34 trailers currently being operated by the company.

Managing director Kenneth Kitchen explained that there had been no problems when he had had personal charge of the maintenance. Four years ago, however, his father had suddenly retired and he had taken on other aspects of the business.

Since the problems had arisen he had taken on extra staff, enabling him to concentrate on supervising the maintenance once again.

Curtailing the licence Whalley said while he had sympathy with the situation Kitchen had found himself in, maintenance had deteriorated to an unacceptable level.
