It has coi,..missioned twenty 7.5 tonne Ford C2:go 0809 and Les:land Roadrunner chassis with Abel Uniswop demountable air-packs and 57 matching grp-plywood panelled box van bodies as part of the initial operation.
By early 1987 the north western area will be served
by an 11,150m2 (120,000 sq ft) appliance/meter store at Breightmet, Bolton and the use of Abel demountables is playing an integral part in saving stores spaces according to fleet engineer, Jim Critchely.
Critchely claims that swop bodies have streamlined chassis turnround and eliminated much of the congestion around Breightmet's 23 vehicle loading bay. Picking and load-assembling has also been made easier.
