Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONCE upon a time there was a company that did not sponsor an event, worthy or fatuous, for profit or charity. It was not Bandag Tyres, which sponsored six teams from Bees Transport Ltd, Hinckley, in a 20-mile tyre-push to raise £5,000 for improvements to the local hospital. Arrowfast Express Ltd fielded five teams and Crowfoots Carriers Ltd one.

The busy (or silly, according to taste) Bees were first and second, with Arrow a (not so) fast third. By bowling an 11-22.5 tyre 20 miles in 2hr 33min, the winners surely earned a bed in the hospital. This would be a more appropriate 'method of selecting patients than drawing names out of a hat.
