Lingwell Transport, Ltd„ Leeds, to add a bogie trailer to their A licence was opposed by British Railways. at Leeds, last week. The objection was withdrawn, however, when Lingwell's traffic manager g4v.e an assurance that the trailer's operations would be confined to the West Riding.

For the applicants, it was stated that although they were associated with A.I Transport, Ltd., Leeds, who had a suitable trailer, traffic requiring this type of transport was rapidly increasing. They wanted to carry long lengths of steel for building work in the Leeds area.

Mr. T. B. Atkinson, for BritiSh Railways, pointed out that the railways could offer comparable services by rail to London. He had been concerned about the distances Lingwell's wanted to travel, but he was now satisfied that operations would be confined to Yorkshire.

.Mr J. R. Randolph, Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority, granted the application.

PRIVATE OPERATORS WANT • TO SHARE TRAFFIC

TWO private bus operators, McGill's Bus Service, Ltd., 13arrhead, and Graham's Bus ,Serviee, Ltd., Paisley, lodged an appeal to the.Minister of Transport because they think they were given "scant consideration" in the issue of licences for the Paisley and Renfrew areas on the withdrawal of Glasgow's municipal tram services.
