A New 2-tonner of Distinctive Appearance and Several Models of Larger Pay-load Capacity

VTISITORS to this stand wil , no V doubt, be attracted by examples of the new 2-ton model recently introduced by the Reo concern. Both short and long-wheelbase types, are on view, the former with a Rock tipping bodY, the total unladen weight being well within two tons, and the latter in chassis form. 'The power unit is of the six-cylinderecl type rated at 24.38 h.p..and it has a bore of 31.1 ins. and a stroke of 4g ins.; the maximum b.h.p. is 70 . at 2,000 .r.p.m. A single-plate clutch and four-speed gearbox are built unit-wise with the engine, the latter •having helical constant-mesh gears.

Two all-metal roller-bearing universal joints are provided for the propellor shaft on the short-wheelbase machine, three similar joints being incorporated in the two-piece. propeller shaft on the long-wheelbase model.

In each case the rear axle is of the spiral-bevel type with fully floating shafts, tapered roller bearings being used throughout with a straddlemounted bearing for the bevel pinion.

A feature of the hydrauli7 cally operated four-wheel brakes is the use of composite centrifuse brake drums. The frame is well braced by four cross-members on the smaller . machine and five deep crossmembers are provided on the long-Wheelbase model. Known as th6 A.4 and C4-types, the chassis price is £29 for the short-wheelbase model, and .249 for the larger machine.

. Other, exhibits include the L5 21-ton chassis and a 31-ton chassis which is to be seen with a 4-cubic yd. tipping body and Anthony hydraulic tipping gear. A further example of the 31tonner equipped with a van body of large dimensions, also calls for first
