New Passenger and Goods Models, Included in Display of Chassis and Coaches with Wycombe Bodies

Stand 33

'THE new passenger and goods I chassis will undoubtedly arouse considerable interest amongst visitors to the Gilford stand. Of outstanding moment, perhaps, is the addition to the Company's well-known, range of a

4-ton goods chassis designed to fall within the 2&-to u taxation class, which may be obtained with a Gardner 4LK-type oil engine.

The other recently introduced model is the C.F.176 chassis for 32-39-sealer bodywork, which is available with a Gardner 4LW oil engine in conjunction with a five-speed gearbox.

Visitors will have the opportunity of closely examining the new goods Model, as it is in stripped form, whilst the new passenger chassis is to be seen without bodywork, as well as with 35-seater coachwork by Wycombe Bodies, Ltd. The attractive Hera model is shown as a 32-seater luxury coach, also with a Wycombe body.

The P.L.116 forward-control model appears with a Perkins Leopard oil engine of 3.99 litres, developing 58 b.h.p. at 2,100 r.p.m. ; the R.A.C. rating is 24.8 h.p. Fuel injection is effected by means of a C.A.V.-Bosch pump, this make of lighting equipment and starter also being employed. Power is transmitted through a 12-in, single-plate clutch, four-speed gearbox and open tubular divided propeller shaft, with a Layrub joint on the front shaft and needle-roller joints on the second section, to the overhead-worm fully floating-shaft rear axle.

Salient features of the new passenger chassis are the use of a six-cylindered 5.7-litre engine delivering 92 b.h.p. at 2,750 r.p.m. Three Layrub joints are incorporated in the open tubular divided propeller shaft.

A four-speed gearbox is included as a standard component, although, as stated earlier, a five-speed gearbox is available when using an oil engine. Proprietary components include a C.A.V.-Bosch axial-type starter, Sein tilla Vertex magneto and a Dewandre trip-servo braking systein.—Gilford, Motor Co., Ltd., Brentside Works, North Circular Road, London, N.W.10.
