Range of Well-built Light Transport Vehicles, as well as Certain Specialized Products

ONE of the stands on which light vehicles are featured is that of this prosperous Birmingham concern. In all, seven vehicles are displayed, the lightest being the 5-cwt. van, based on the 7.8 h.p. chassis, which has achieved much popularity. The chassis has a four-speed gearbox with synchromesh for top and third gears and a special frame and suspension system, and the improved body now gives loading space of 55 cubic ft.

For those requiring a van of slightly larger capacity there is the Ten-Four 6-8-cwt. model, which has a 10 hp. four-cylindered engine. In this case, the capacity of the body is 63 cubic ft.

E40 The largest van exhibit is the Twelve-Four, which is built for 7-10-cwt. loads, and has a body space of 88 cubic ft. Its four-cylindered engine of 11.9 h.p. is of sturdy build and has a willing performance, combined with economy.

The Twelve-Four chassis is also available for inspection as a light lorry, with a loading platform 27 so. ft. in area and having drop sides. This is the first Show appearance of this model, which is built to take loads up to 10 cwt.

• In addition, the company ha, s on view three of its specialized products, comprising-. two .ambulances, one in

which the " Twenty " chassis is employed and the other having the " Eighteen " chassis as its basis. Both chassis have six-cylindered engines and four-speed gearboxes, a feature of the larger model being the offsetting Of the drive to the near side to give a lowloading line. The wheelbase is 11 ft., 10 ins., whilst that of the smaller ambulance is 10 ft.

The exhibit is completed by a London-type taxicab on the Austin Twelve chassis, and it serves to demonstrate the excellence of the eouipment used to-day on this class of vehicle.---Austin Motor Co., Ltd., Longbridge Works, Birmingham.
