Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Furniture Warehousemen and Removers Association has circulated to its members a list of questions to be addressed by them to their Parliamentary candidates. In brief, they ask candidates, if returned to Parliament, to persuade the Government to reduce the special taxes on road transport ; and to assist in stopping the revenue raised specially by motorvehicle taxation from being applied to the relief of general taxation. They also ask if. he he opposed to the policy of forcing traders and individuals to send their goods by rail although they may prefer road transport as being more convenient and cheaper; if he will support a proposal for increasing the speed limit of up-to-date lorries to that applied to buses, i.e., 30 m.p.h.

It is suggested that candidates should he waited upon in private.

Thornycrofts for Military Service.

John I. Thomycroft and Co., Ltd., has recently received a further repeat order from the War Department for 25 Tartar-class medium-load cross-country six-wheeled vehicles. Features of the design of Thornycroft chassis-of this class are the provision of eight forward and two reverse speeds, giving a wide range ot ratios for travelling over virgin country, and the company's patent system of bogie-axle suspension, which permits a difference of 11 ins, in driving-axle levels and allows either sxle to tilt to an angle of 15 degrees. An interesting point in connection with the order is that a power take-off has been specified for each chassis, so that the drive can be taken to a 71-kw. lightweight generator set.

The company has also secured another important contract for 12 similar Tartar chassis with normal control from the Ministry of War, Argentina. all of which will be equipped with military bodywork.

Sir Malcolm Campbell Supports A.R.O. Election Campaign.

Sir Malcolm Campbell, Parliamentary candidate for the Deptford division, addressed a large and enthusiastic meeting of Associated Road Operators, at New Cross, London, on Monday evening. He was, he said, in complete agreement with the questionnaire submitted to candidates by the " Association, and, if returned to Parliament, he promised ardent support to the road-transport cause.
