Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The table included herewith affords interesting figures relating to details of the cost of working two steam wagons, a Burrell and a Clayton and Shuttleworth, employed by the Nottingham Highways Committee. The details have been extracted from an appendix to the report for 1916-17 of the county surveyor.

'hese figures are well worth close study, affording as they do ample evidence of the value of the steam wagon for heavy haulage work. It will be seen

that the actual cost per ton mile was 44d.—a most satisfactory result in view of the present increasing difficulties of operation. The surveyor adds in hi a report that it would have been'impossittle to have carried out efficiently the work of the department without the aid of the wagons.

An order for a third steamer and trailers has been placed, but in view of growing military needs it is not expected that this machine will be delivered for some months to come.
