VEHICLES operated by fruit and vegetable merchant A. W. Veri and Sons of Oldham were said by vehicle examiner Frank Howell be in a shocking condition, had no inspection record, and h, obviously been having no regular inspections.

Mr Howell said this at disciplinary proceedings before Northwestern Licensing Authority Roy Hutchings in Manchester.

Mr Howell said he had imposed an immediate prohibition on one of the two specified vehicles and a delayed prohibition for black smoke on the other. He also imposed an immediate prohibition on a Transit van not on the operator's licence for a loose prop shaft.

The pers who had previously dealt w the transport had left the co pany and they were astound to find that there were records. He agreed that he c not know a lot about 0-licensir Mr Hutchings commented th it sounded to him that Mr Gm did not know anything abc licensing.

Mr Gould said that since t vehicle examiner's visit he h arranged to have the vehicl checked monthly by a loi garage and they were sent in a different garage every thr months.

Reserving decision after a mining maintenance records, Hutchings said he wanted an L to-date report on the conditi of the vehicle.
