REYNOLDS BOUGHTON has desi its RB44 four-wheel-drive truck.

Built for the Institute of Geological Services Environmental Protection Unit, the go-anywhere truck will be part of an hydraulic testing unit which monitors the rate and pollution levels of groundwaters.

Specialist electronic recorders, data loggers and all necessary workshop facilities to support these regular testing procedures in boreholes up to 500m deep are housed within the insulated cabin of RB44 vehicle. It measures internally 12ft by 7ft by fift high.

The vehicle built at Reynolds Boughton's Amersham works will also tow a drilling rig/logging winch.

Mounted on a 145in long wheelbase, the vehicle is fitted with a Perkins diesel engine and a manual 4-speed box.

The outer skin of this special insulated vehicle is aluminium and side windows are fitted. Entry is by a rear door.
