Mr. B. A. Thompson, for many years transport manager and engineer with Whitbread and Co., has established a company, Transport Consultants, 166/16$ Bishopsgate, London, E.C.2, offering a consultancy service for many aspects of road transport, especially Continental traffic. Mr. Frank N. Wilkinson, formerly European regional sales manager of the Perkins Group's regional sales division, has been transferred to the group's associate and licencee operating unit to take up the position of overseas projects manager. Mr. Wilkinson, who is 34, joined Perkins as a trainee in 1953 and became European regional sales manager in 1959.

Mr. Ralph Spring has been appointed home sales manager of Trico-Folberth Ltd. tn succession to Mr. S. B. Whiteley who, after a long period of ill health, has returned to take up the post of U.K. market research manager. Mr. Spring will remain general manager of Marchal Distributors Ltd. Mr. V. W. Durtnall continues as publicity manager for Trico.

Mr. H. A. Evans, joint secretary of the Automobile Association, is to retire on June 30. Mr. Evans joined the staff of the A.A. in 1920. Announcing the retirement, Lord Brentford, chairman of the A.A., said that the committee was gratified that Mr. Evans had agreed to continue to serve the Association as a consultant.

At the annual general meeting of the Nottingham centre of the institute of Traffic Administration, Mr. W. M. Wood was re-elected chairman for 1964-65. Vice-chairman is Mr. D. S. Marmont.

Mr. A. C. Struthers, previously assistant manager of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Company's manufacturers' sales division at Wolverhampton. has been appointed manager of that division.

Dr. Hub van Doorne is to retire from his position as president of the board of directors of van Doorne's Automobielfabriek N.V. (DAF), Eindhoven, Holland, on January 1, 1965, and will be succeeded by his brother, Mr. Wim van Doorne, whose present control over the sales side will pass to his eldest son, Mr. M. P. A. van Doorne. Dr. Hub van Doorne's eldest son, Mr. M. P. J. H. van Doorne, will become vice-president of the board.

Mr. E. C. Williams, a senior member of the Scientific Civil Service, has been appointed by the Minister of Transport as head of a small scientific staff to keep the Minister informed of technical developments and trends affecting his responsibilities and to advise him on their implications; also to advise on the use of scientific techniques for studying issues of policy and administration.

At present Mr. Williams is in the service of the North AtlanticTreaty Organization as director of the technical centre of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. He will take up his duties at the Ministry of Transport during the summer. Aged 49, Mr. Williams was educated at Birmingham University and has held numerous scientific and research posts with the Admiralty, Air Ministry. Ministry of Defence and Royal Air Force.

Mr. David Ronaldson of D. Ronaldson and Son, Dunnikier Coachworks, Kirkcaldy, has retired after 36 years in the business. His son Douglas, who became a partner five years ago, is now sole owner.

Following territory adjustments by Ceag Ltd. in their Lumax representation, Mr. S. H. Brookes has been appointed to the Lumax sales force and will cover North and East London, Middlesex, Essex and Herts. Mr. K. D. Millard will represent the company in South London, Surrey and Kent, whilst Mr. E. S. Archdale will continue as representative in the Southern Counties, other than Kent.

Mr. Leslie Whitaker has been appointed home sales manager of R. and J. Dick Ltd., power transmission equipment manufacturers and subsidiary of the Pollard Ball and Roller Bearing Co. Ltd., of Ferrybridge, Yorks.
