Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CLEXITOR rubber-in-torsion arm suspension units are used for a new 3-ton close-coupled four-wheeled implement trailer manufactured by Wessex Industries (Poole), Ltd., West Street, Dorset.

The low-loading trailer (platform height is 12-13 in.) has a chassis built up of channel-section members on which is mounted a platform of Fin, steel plate 10 ft. long and 5 ft. 7 in. wide. Wooden sides and headboard are fitted, with a 4-ft.-high steel tailboard which hinges down to form a ramp for loading.

Although the trailer weighs only 19 cwt, unladen, making it legally permissible to fit overrun brakes, a vacuumservo-assisted braking system operating on all wheels is employed.

The tow-bar height can be modified to suit any make of towing vehicle and a screw-operated lifting jack, combined with jockey wheels, is supplied.

Extra equipment offered includes a 1-ton winch to assist loading and 12-ft.long platform body.

APPLICATION GRANTED ON A LETTER

THE only objectors, British Road Services, withdrew, and the Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. A. Randolph, granted an application on a letter at Leeds last week.

Mr. M. P. Moncaster, Hustwaite, near Easingwold, applying for an additional vehicle to his B licence, said in his letter that there had been a 50-per-cent. increase in work for an agricultural merchant over the past year and he had to work in the evenings in order to carry the traffic.

The nearest B.R.S. depot was 17 miles from the merchant's depot; they had canvassed the traffic but could not offer as good a rate as Mr. Moncaster.

• The licence was granted for a radius of 20 miles. OBSOLETE TOLLS THE toll bridge at Selby, Yorks, was I. an obsolete obstruction, said Ald. R. W. Halifax Smith, at a meeting of the East Riding County Council at Beverley last week. He hoped that the motoring organizations, interested councils and public authorities would use every effort to secure the abolition of tolls.

The council learned with regret that the Minister of Transport would not free the bridge from tolls which amounted to 9d. per ton. Representations to the Ministry were to be made on the urgent necessity for a Selby by-pass and a new bridge over the River Ouse MACHINE HIRE PLAN

APLAN for hiring out machinery, on a three-year basis, involving monthly payments has been introduced by F. I. Edwards, Ltd., 359 Euston Road, London, N.W.1. It is applicable to machines of from £100 or more in value.
