THE Northern Licensing Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, at Carlisle last week, pointed out that hauliers applying for an ordinary A licence to replace a special A licence are supposed to apply for the new licence eight weeks before the special A licence expires. J. Stamper (Farms), Ltd., Dearham, near Maryport, sought a public A carrier's licence for a vehicle of 7,-; tons unladen, Mr. T. H. Campbell Wardlaw, for the applicants, said that the licence was in continuation of a special A licence. Mr. Richard Stamper, the applicants' representative, told the Authority that he was not aware that he had to apply eight weeks beforehand.
Mr. Hanlon. said that hauliers had to apply for fresh licences before the others expired. If they applied when. a licence expired, or after that, the licence lapsed.
The application was granted, subject to certain amendments.
FORD'S RECORD MONTH
iN the month of April, Ford Motor Co., I Ltd., Dagenham, achieved a record total output exceeding 42,000 units, more than 1,900 cars, trucks and tractors per day. Of the total, 51 per cent, was destined for overseas markets and shipments reached a new peak of 23,000.
