FIVE removals operators have participated in an American official evacuation scheme which has cost in the neighbourhood of £500,000. The Patents Office, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other non-defence departments, have been moved from
Washington to other cities. At the same time about 20.000 employees have been transferred. Those concerned had to submit inventories of their household effects to the Government Decentralization Service, which co-ordinated loads and allocated them to the different operators.
