WALLASEY GAS BUS ON TRIAL.

OMay 29, a Wallasey Corporation double-deck bus using coal-gas fuel will make its trial trip, and will go into commission on the New Ferry route.

On that basis, the equivalent charge for petrol would have to be less than 61c1. per gallon.

CANADA BUYS A.E C. TROLLEY BUS ES THE first A.E.C.-English Electric trolleybuses to be seen in Canada are to be operated by the Montreal Tramways Co., which has 30 A.E.C. Ranger single-deck motorbuses in daily service. The company has just ordered seven single-deck six-wheelers, with English Electric. $0 compoundwound motors, mounted amidships on :rubber bushes. A special battery set

• enables the vehicles to be manceuvred when power is unavailable. .

• The latest pattern of A.E.C. compressed-air braking system will be incorporated and will• take effect on all six wheels. It will include a Westinghouse 5-cubic-ft. compressor.

CARDIFF'S RECEIPTS UP.

A PRELIMINARY statement of the operating results in the year ended March 31 last of Cardiff Corporation's transport department shosts improved trading. Bus receipts have increased by 0,476 on the previous year's working. Tram receipts rose by. 2,138. The buses travelled 226,003 more miles,carrying an additional 808,994 passengers.

" FAN-TAILS ": STATUS QUO MAINTAINED.

THE Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners have now announced their decisions on a number of applications which chiefly concerned " fan-tail " coach tours. The number of such tours has been neither increased nor decreased. The tours in question include those operated by Yorkshire firms, and others run by Lancashire operators who pick up in Yorkshire towns.

OXFORD WORKERS STRIKE.

LOCAL coach operators were authorized to run relief services when drivers and conductors employed by City of Oxford Motor Services, Ltd., took strike action at the end of last week. The stoppage was due to ;LI:le dismissal of a conductor.
