Clarkes Cabin Transport

CLARKES CABIN Transport, based in Cannock, has had its O-licence suspended for a month from 8 March to 7 April, following a public inquiry. The trafic commissioner made an order that: • speciied vehicles shall not be used on any other O-licence during the period of suspension; • Roger Clarke has not lost his good repute as a transport manager.

The following undertakings have also been attached to the irm’s O-licence: • safety inspections will be planned and never be more than six weeks apart. Maintenance reports will be properly completed and show rectiications; • there will be a nil defect daily driver reporting system; • all authorised vehicles and trailers will have a rolling road brake test every three months, not including the MoT; • maintenance systems, maintenance documentation and vehicle inspections will be audited by the RHA every six months; • audit reports will be prepared, acted upon and retained for at least two years. A copy of the report will be forwarded to the trafic area ofice and Featherstone testing station. After three clear audits the operator can apply to amend the undertaking so that audits are carried out on an annual basis; • all authorised vehicles will have a thorough and effective pre-MoT inspection.

THE CO-OPERATIVE Group has been given the green light for 200 vehicles and trailers at its new £20m regional distribution centre at Cabot Park in Avonmouth, Bristol.

• Oldbury-based MillettKirkham Transport Services will make a new application at a PI on 14 March.

• NGW Fabrications, based on the Airfield Industrial Estate in Stafford, will attend a PI on 14 March.

Bristol

• Disciplinary action against Reading-based Andrew Simon and Peter John Deacon trading as 1st Scaffolding will be discussed at a PI on 20 March. The business currently has an O-licence to run four vehicles.
