3s firm's 0-licence is revoked EYLAND,LANCS operator K&P Iddon has had its cence revoked on grounds of repute and finance by Iorth-Western Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell rith effect from midnight on 20 March.

The former ERF/MAN agent, which had a licence 3r 60 vehicles and 70 trailers, had been called before he TC because of concerns over prohibitions issued. Tieseincluded four S-marked prohibitions, showing a erious lapse in maintenance; the illegal use of a vehicle 3 Scotland for eight years; and a number of drivers' Lours and tachograph offences, The TC found that lirectors Philip and Keith Iddon had lost their repute s transport managers for an indefinite period.

When the case first came before theTC,Philip Iddon aid the driver of the vehicle kept in Scotland had noved there with his wife after she was offered a job n Eciinburgh.Th e vehicle was used in England during he week and returned to Scotland at weekends. It was looked after from, and maintained at, Leyland. The company was to seek an 0-licence in Scotland.

Asked about a number of drivers hours' and tachograph convictions, Philip Iddon said an agreement had been made for consultants to conduct driver training. He had been unaware of convictions recorded against the company's drivers. Keith Iddon said he thought the firm had been a bit of a victim of its own success, and that the directors had since got their act together. When the case came before the TC again, Bell was told there was a further Vosa investigation into breaches of drivers' hours and tachograph regs.

Revoking the licence, Bell said the firm had failed to keep its vehicles in a fit and roadworthy condition. and there had been convictions recorded against both the company and its drivers. The TC directed that the Vosa investigation into possible driver's hours and tachograph offences should continue. Summary GIVEN A CHANCE The TC initially adjourned the hearing to give the company an opportunity of showing that it was able to comply with the law.
