Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MECHANICAL warranty company Car Care Plan of Leeds celebrated 10 years in business last week by introducing for commercial vehicles an extended warranty that is up to the same standard as the manufacturer's original warranty.

Car Care Plan (tel 0532 562133) is to run the scheme as an option on new Bedfords (see news pages), but operators can also obtain it on any other make of new commercial vehicle, via a dealer who offers Car Care Plan warranties.

This new, higher standard of cover is called Roadline Warranty Link and the only difference between it and the first-year warranty is that paintwork and audio equipment are excluded. There is no mileage limit.

Whereas the standard Roadline extended warranty (that covers major mechanical and electrical items) sets a financial limit on the claims, Warranty Link will pay claims up to the limit of the vehicle's new price.

Extra cover given by the new Warranty Link in the second and third years includes wiring looms, interior trim, switches, seats, air tanks, tachographs and compressors.

It is, of course, more expensive. For example, Roadline Warranty Link for the second and third years in the life of a 38-tonne GCW tractive unit costs around £2,000, which is £500 more than the standard Roadline extended warranty.

Car Care Plan managing director Paul Kirby said last week that he is extremely pleased with the growth of

the company's commercial vehicle business. Although is still very small compare( with the car business — on 4,((X) commercial policies have been sold, compared with one million car polici, — commercial vehicle polic sales are running 60 per cei up on this time last year.
