Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE OF the Lex SCr, ICC ;roup's more labour-intensive transport businesses, already offered for sale, is being closed later this month following the loss of its biggest customer.

Lex Magazine Distributors, the Hoddcsdon, Hertfordshire-based company taken over in 1983 from Green woods Transport (a Heron Group subsidiary), is being closed on March 28 with the loss of 60 jobs.

Although still one of the biggest magazine distribution specialists, it has made significant losses for the past two years, and streamlined working arrangements have not been enough to save it.

It lost some traffic from 1PC Magazines shortly after Lex bought the company and the loss of 1PC's remaining business to another Hertfordshire magazine distribution specialist, E. J. Masters of Kings Langley, made the end inevitable.

According to Lex Magazine Distributors managing director Ian Snelling, that left his company with only two thirds of its traffic, and while that still left it with 35 customers, only 10 of these were particularly large.

Some customers have already made alternative distribu don arrangements; all have been informed of the closure.

Snelling stresses that strenuous efforts are being made to find alternative jobs for die redundant staff with other transport companies in the area. Two or three are likely to move to other Lex companies such as Transfleet.
