Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The manoeuvring section tests for the heavy goods vehicle driving licence will be similar to those used in the Lorry Driver of the Year competition (sponsored by CM). This was revealed on Wednesday by Mr. A. E. Teer at the Mortlake meeting of the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers. Mr. Teer has already taken the test and he outlined the form it will take when it is brought in probably on July 1.

The road test section will be of two hours duration, he said, to be taken in varying traffic conditions with unladen vehicles. Mr. R. Bryant of RTITB said the Board was aiming at h.g.v. standards for its driving instructors.

The Association is to ask the Ministry of Transport to apply the proposed regulations for rear reflective marker plates to all commercial vehicles, and not just those over 3 tons unladen. It also feels that using metal plates would be extremely costly and says adhesive material would give high reflective efficiency.

The draft of a new version of the Highway Code was criticized, and suggested amendments are being sent to the Minister. The revised code would fill 72 pages (twice the present length) and some cuts were suggested.

The discussions followed an illustrated talk on anti-jack-knife devices by Mr. F. Hope.

Members of the AIRSO have agreed to an annual membership fee of £2.
