Axle regs

• The Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers is holding a seminar on 15 June entitled Complying with Axle Load Regulations. Speakers include David Hay, senior vehicle safety engineer at the Department of Transport, Wincanton's engineering director Jim Taylor and Hugh Edwards of the Vehicle Inspectorate. It will be held at the IMechE headquarters at Birdcage Walk, London SW1.

Transport forum

• John Watts, Minister for Railways and Roads, will be among the speakers at the Franco-British Transport Forum on 13 June. More than 150 delegates will attend the forum at the Gloucester Hotel, London. The event is organised by the French Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain; other speakers include top executives from Eurotunnel, SNCF, Norbert Dentressangle, Coopers and Lybrand and CAT GB. Attendance will cost £170 (ex-VAT) for non-members.

It will feature a wide variety of vehicles built by the Guildford-based company, including the earliest examples of its fire engines. Municipal vehicles, civilian trucks and even Dennis motor mowers will portray the company's story from earliest times to the present day.
