• Stena Sealink is resuming livestock transport between Ireland and the UK with a night-only service from Rosslare to Fishguard.
But it will not carry calves under six months and has no plans to resume livestock transport to the Continent.
The company says the decision results from a change in Irish law.
"We said at the beginning of the whole dispute that if Ireland brought in new safeguards for animals we would restart the route. This has now happened," said a company spokesman.
The question of whether ferry companies can maintain bans on transporting veal calves to the Continent has not yet been tested in court although Dover Harbour Board recently had its ban overturned in a court case brought by haulier Peter Gilder.
