Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ON ARTICULATED vehicles of the type used for transporting machinery, it is known to be able to remove the rear wheels so as to enable the platform to

descend to the ground. Patent No. 887,989 discloses a design in which the same end is reached without the need for detaching the wheels. Nicolas, 11 avenue Jean-Jaures,. Auxerre (Yonne), France.) In this scheme, the rear wheels are uttached to swinging arms so that they can be moved outwards as shown at 1 in the drawing. The pivots (2) are sloped at an angle such that as the wheels swing, outwards they also move upwards, thus lowering the body to the ground.

To splay the wheels, all that has to be done is to unlock the arms and drive the vehicle backwards. Conversely, forward movement brings them back to the running position, in case the wheels do not readily start the outward movement, a small ram cylinder (3) is used to give them an initial push.

The actual location of the pivots is des cribed in some detail. A followin patent No. 887,990 describes a loadin ramp at the extreme rear of the platforn
