"IN reviewing the financial pattern of the past year I feel that it has been a period of frustration," said Mr. T. Robert Williams in his speech as chairman of the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd.. in Manchester on Tuesday, at the company's annual general meeting. Higher fares and increased competition from other transport had again reduced stage carriage traffic, but he reported that in the private hire and contract carriage field two subsidiary companies, Altrincham Coachways, Ltd., and Melba Motors, Ltd., had shown an increase in revenue and in this class of operation the parent company had had a record year.
There were non 50 Dennis Loline double-deckers in the North Western fleet, said Mr. Williams, and the company had recently put 10 Leyland Leopard coaches with Alexander 49-seat, 36-ft. by 8-ft. bodies into express service.
He recalled that, since the turn of the year, the company's traffic control had been operating in three separate divisions: northern, central and southern.
