THE Eastern Traffic Commissioners last week granted fares increases to the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., the amount being id. rise on fares between 2-id. and 5W. (not 7id. as applied for) and Id. extra on returns.

For the company, Mr. J. R. C. Samuel Gibbon said the proposed increase would still not affect some 40 per cent, of the passengers carried. Wage awards and fuel tax increases would cost the company 1.94,000; the product of the proposed increases would be £104,500.

There were 13 local authorities among the 38 objectors to the application.
