ASPECIAL public inquiry was held in Newcastle upon Tyne last week to enable the Northern Licensing Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, to go into the question of lime subsidies and the rates paid to hauliers for the carriage of lime.
After hearing a submission from Mr. J. Booth, who represented Adam Lythgoe. Ltd., and after evidence had been given by the secretary of the company about the position of the Adam Lythgoe group of companies, Mr. Hanlon granted contract A licences to H. W. Irving and Coulthards (Moota), Ltd., both of Cockermouth, Hewitson and Sons, Ltd.. of Westerhope, F. Hasson, of Ponteland and S. Hodgson, of Hexham.
