Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Road Haulage Disposal Board I.told The Commercial Motor on Wednesday that a final list of transport units would be issued on June 13. It would contain about 180 vehicles, all in single-vehicle units. Tenders would close on July 18.

NO WARNING OF HEAVY LOAD: 15 FINE

1-1. A FINE of £5 was imposed on J. Darlington and Son (Transport), Ltd., Church Street, Manchester, at Sheffield last week for failing to give two days' notice that a special load would pass through the city.

A police witness said he was called to Mansfield Road, Frecheville, on the outskirts of Sheffield, and found a heavy tractor pulling a load 55 ft. long and 11 ft. wide and weighing 46 tons. The driver had asked for a police, escort. He escorted the load through Darnall.

In a letter from the company's solicitor, the load was said to be an export order awaiting urgent shipment, and heavy claims for damages would doubtless have been brought against the company had it not been delivered. There had been insufficient time to give the two days' notice, because the order had been cancelled and then renewed.

Insp. F. Slack said that in such special cases it was possible to provide an escort without two days' notice.

NEW INJECTION TEST EQUIPMENT

FOUR new items of fuel-injection service equipment have recently been introduced by the Merlin Engineering Co., Ltd., Hebble Mills, Halifax. There are three cam-boxes—a C-type, composite and lift-pump--and art injector dismantling jig. The C-type cam-box, which is designed for use on the Merlin H8 Calimaster calibrating and testing machine, will accommodate singlecylinder C-type pumps, with flange mounting, having a 15-mm. plunger stroke and a plunger diameter from 10 mm.-16 mm.

The composite box is for BPF.IA and BPF.2A pumps of 7-mm. plunger stroke and BPF.1B, 2B, 3B and 411 pumps having a 10-mm. plunger stroke. Fuellift pumps that can be accommodated on the lift-pump box arc BFP/IC22 plunger type and DFP1 and DFP3 diaphragm patterns.

NEW COMPANY IN HANDLING FIELD

AN associate company of the Glasgow Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., has been formed to produce a range of hydraulic maintenance platforms and, later, material-handling appliances. The new concern is known as Anderston Clyde Engineers, Ltd.

The initial products are based upon the Spaceman platform, a unit extensible to 40 ft. but, when collapsed, capable of being moved through doorways.
