iLEND-LEASE scheme for spare parts is to be started in Coventry to assist members of the local sub-area of the Road Haulage Association to avoid delays resulting from the general shortage. Mr. V. Pike, chairman of the sub-area, sponsored a resolution at a meeting, last week, calling on members to co-operate in such a scheme.
About 50 per cent. of the 120 Coventry members have provided fleet and operational details in response to the R.H.A.'s questionnaire sent to members in April, and a gazetteer will be prepared giving the types and makes of the vehicles employed by individual hauliers, together with the conditions of the licences held.
Mr. G. W. Mousley, the sub-area secretary. has decided to publish a subarea gazetteer before the R.H.A. West Midland Area office has obtained sufficient information to prepare an area gazetteer. Members will be encouraged to use the list in locating suitable spares and items of equipment under the lendlease scheme. The list will also facilitate interworking..
A Coventry sub-area rates committee has been set up and it is expected that an up-to-date rates schedule will have been prepared in time for the next meeting on June 28.
