AT a meeting of North of Scotland public health officials, at Inverness, last week, the Ministry of Food was accused of failing to take action in some .parts of the Highlands where unsuitable lorries were used to carry meat from slaughterhouses to retailers. Mr. A. M. Boyle, of Dingwall, said that when the matter was brought to the attention of the Ministry, it evaded the question.
According to Mr. Boyle, vehicles which had been used to carry coal and other goods were transferred to the haulage of meat after they had been washed down, duckboards had been fitted and a canvas tilt installed. He thought it was the duty of the Ministry to ensure that only suitable contractors carried meat.
