We are informed, by a correspondent in Perth, Western Australia, that the City Council is contemplating the running of services of motorbuses. A proposal to acquire for the city the local tramways concession has now been abandoned. The present tramway authorities do not hold a monopoly, so that they may soon expect. municipal opposition. The length of line operated by the tramway company is 29 miles and the last traffic receipts show takings amounting to £74,000 in twelve months. The lowest fare is threepence.

The brilliant weather during the Alitsuntide holiday period resulted in very heavy traffic for all kinds of public-service transport. The London motorbus services into the country were crowded all day long, and we have reports from all quarte.is that. char-a-banes traffic has beaten all records. We are informed that il chars-abanes, all fitted with Royal Sirdar solid tires, came up from south coast towns for the Derby.

The Select Committee of the House of Commons is now agreed that the Corporation of Rotherham shall have power to commence the installation of its trackless-trolley system six months after the certificate of the Board of Trade is received by Leeds.

Dennis Bros., Ltd., informs us that it has, during the past few days, delivered three, of an order for 10 public-service vehicles, to the Great Western Railway Co., and that two, of an order for four, torpedo-body chars-a-bancs have been despatched to the Llandudno. Automobile Touring Co.

A Sad Mishap.

An accident of a particularly-distressing character occurred in Gray's Inn Road last week. One of the L.C.C. double-deck tramcars nulled up in the middle of the road for passengers to alight and, as usual, masked all the traffic coming alongside it. A motorbus was travelling in the same direction as the tramcar and was overtd king the car when a number of deaf and dumb children passed in front of the car and were struck by the motorbus. It appears that the stationary tramcar hid the motorbus from the children and from those in charge of them, as well aa obstructing the bus driver's view,
