FREIGHT FORWARDING and warehousing firm ASK 4 Transport has gone into liquidation with unknown debts after creditors forced it to wind up.

The Stourbridge firm's provisional liquidators, Walsall-based Sale Smith & Co will hold a creditors' meeting in Dudley on 16 July.

The company specialised in goods for the catering industry, storing them at its warehouse before arranging delivery by a number of subcontractors.

Another firm, SRJ Storage & Distribution, began trading on 5 July this year. Companies House lists its directors as Susan Timmins who shares an address with ASK 4's director, Kevin Timmins, and Cedric Felton whose address is the same as another ASK 4 director, Amy Timmins.

Desperate subbies say that, despite promises from ASK 4's directors that ASK would settle its debts, some haven't received payment for up to six months.

Maureen Wright from Much Wen lock-based Reynolds Transport claims she is owed £8,500 from work dating back to last January.

"We are only a small firm and this has had a terrible effect on us. We carried out work for them and weren't paid on time so we phoned them and were promised a cheque was in the post."

She adds that other cheques received from the firm bounced. "Eventually I got a County Court judgment against them but they ignored this too," she says.

Another disgruntled subcontractor is Kevin Norris from Dell Transport who is owed £6,000. "I also received two cheques that bounced. When I rang them they kept making excuses about when I would get paid," he says.

Sean Jones from Sean Jones Transport adds that he is owed around £12,000 by the firm.

Kevin Timmins, ASK 4 Transport's managing director declined to comment.
