Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE NEW MANAGEMENT of a 20-year-old family business given a formal warning at a Cardiff disciplinary inquiry said they were disgusted with the standard of maintenance they had inherited.

Welsh Deputy Traffic Commissioner Lester Maddrell issued the warning to waste disposal firm Wyndham Gill & Partners of Williamstown. Rhonda. The firm was founded in 1984 by Wyndham Gill; his sons Paul and Dean recently took over the business and are soon to become partners.

Vehicle examiner John Hill said that during an unannounced maintenance check three vehicles were found to be defective. Faults ranged from an inoperative load sensing valve to tyre defects, a couple of loose wheelnuts and inoperative bulbs. Mileages were not recorded in the inspection sheets and the drivers' defect reporting system had fallen into disuse, Five vehicles had passed the MoT test first tirne,he added, but it seemed that vehicles were maintained only to the minimum MoT standard.

Paul and Dean Gill said they took the matter very seriously. Paul Gill told the TC: "We hold our hands up. We are disgusted with the standard of maintenance and we have taken the advice of Mr Hill to rectify matters." Dean Gill added that they had introduced a new system and drivers had been instructed to check their vehicles after leaving landfill sites.
