ost companies are reluctant to be associated with a lot of hot air, but not Unipart which is sponsoring its fifth Unipart Bristol International Balloon Fiesta on 10-12 September at Ashton Court, Bristol.
The event puts Rupert Bear in the air accompanied by 150 other weird and wonderful hot air balloons, drifting into the sky for no apparent reason other than to provide an eccentric spectacle. And popular it is — last year 500,000 people attended the event, making it one of the top six outdoor events in the UK.
Added attractions this year include the daredevil Red Arrows and the absurd Crunchie Wing Walkers — for safety's sake let's hope the two are suitably spaced in the programming.
