THE DRIVER AND Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has dismissed suggestions that people will have to declare every 10 years if they are medically fit to drive.
According to reports over Christmas, the DVLA was looking to issue a series of minimum physical and mental requirements that all motorists must fulfil in order to be considered 'roadworthy'. These would include eyesight and reaction times.
However, a spokesman for the DVLA tells CM it was awaiting the results of a driver medical health licensing review, which is due later this year. He adds: "Right now, there are not any recommendations per se. We're going into consultation. We'll look at all aspects."
