If you're into construction you should be into this Commercial Motor has joined forces with SED -The National Event for Construction to bring you the truckzone 2004,a special area of this massive show dedicated to tippers, 4x4 pickups and vans. The show runs from 18 to 20 May 2004 at Milton Keynes. So if you want lobe part of the UK's major tipper and construction show, get that date in your diary now.

The fact that the transport and construction industries go hand in hand is apparent when you look at the significant growth of the truckzone at SED, now in its third year, sponsored by Commercial Motor.

The truckzone 2004 has now practically sold out of stand space and will this year incorporate an expanded truck and 4x4 demonstration area to show visitors just what the latest in tippers and offroader vehicles can do.There are also plenty of light commercial vehicles and an excellent turnout is expected from the trucks, tippers and low-loaders.

At SED 2003 the commercial vehicle sector of the show saw a huge increase in visitors, up by over 40% compared with the previous year. This trend looks all set to continue as the exhibitor list grows, providing visitors with more to see than ever before.

Trucks

As CM went to press the majority of truck manufacturers had committed to the truckzone 2004 and most will be participating in the new TIPPER Live! Demonstration area, set to be one of the show's big attractions, Iveco has hooked an enormous 47m x 12m stand, the biggest ever in this area and is promising a key display of vehicles covering Daily vans, Iveco trucks and Seddon Atkinsons, as well as vehicles from its used truck division.

Scania is a first-tune exhibitor in the truckzone and will be displaying construction rigids and tractors from the range. Renault Trucks is back again: the company designs, builds and supports one of the broadest ranges of commercial vehicles, from 2.8 tonnes to 44 tonnes. Its construction range includes light dropsiders and vans, through to medium-duty tippers. MAN-ERF missed last year, but is back in he truckzone in 2004 and looks set to unveil its ew range of six and eight-wheel tipper chassis ased on the TGA.This new model range is idely tipped to be debuted at the CV Show March, but watch out for a live demo of the ck in the truckzone.only at SED 2004. Volvo hasn't missed the truckzone since it kicked off three years ago and is taking up its position once more with the new FM range of construction vehicles, as well as the successful FL-E mid-range.

At this stage the truck quota is completed by Valley Trucks, the dealer representing both lsuzu and Hino. lsuzu is building a strong reputation for itself with the Grafter line-built tipper range, while the stylish new Hino eightwheeler line-up is beginning to make in-roads into this tough sector.

Lightweights

Nearly 30% of the visitors to last year's SED show had responsibility for the purchase of vans or light commercials. Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Santana will be showing off their vehicles' abilities in the purpose-built 4x4 demonstration area, Visitors will he able to witness the expert test drivers putting the very best in off-road machines through their paces, wading through water and climbing mud moun tain. All four will also be exhibiting their full construction line-up on their own stands.
