A GLASGOW HAULIER is off the road for a week after a public inquiry heard the company had broken the hours rules and used an unauthorised operating centre. Laurelbank Transport is authorised to run five vehicles.
Traffic examiner Evelyn Hill told Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken that an examination of the company's tachograph charts revealed that one driver had repeatedly broken the hours rules. There were 10 clear cases of insufficient breaks and rest,and a number of tachograph charts were missing.
For the company, Michael Allan said that some of the problems had arisen due to director Robert Campbell's incapacity after a leg injury. F legal advice the company had lodged a vani plication to use the Norfolk Line premises at as an operating centre.
There had been clear failings over the hours rules and the company's transport would be going on a refresher course.
Suspending the licence, the TC said she cerned that an operator had not unders law governing operating centres. Howev was powerful mitigation in this case and sh underestimate the shock, discomfort and an Campbell's leg injury had caused him.
