HE use of motorbuses for delivering the Christmas

mail has aroused much interest in South Shields and, judging from its success, is worth recommending to other towns. This is how it was done. Seats were removed from the buses, and parcels, already sorted for delivery, were stacked in sacks along the length of the vehicle on each side, leaving the usual gangway for the crew to work in The sacks, which were arranged in the bus, according to delivery points, Were dropped off in the appropriate districts for the normal postman to deliver.

There is no doubt that this system has helped considerably to alleviate the "tremendous task of our local Post Office this Christmas, and it seems to be here to stay.

South Shields. J.A.D.
