VOLKSWAGEN FOR AUSTRALIA; NOW AVAILABLE IN BRITAIN

rOMMERC1AL-VEHiCLE versions of the German Volkswagen are to be imported into Australia during 1954. They will be assembled in Melbourne. Last year, Volkswagen produced 180,047 vehicles, against 136,013 in 1952. Exports in 1953 totalled 68,126 vehicles, or 50 per cent, more than in the previous year. It is planned to raise production. this year to 1-,000 vehicles a day.

The first example of the goods version of the Volkswagen, known as the Kornbie (The Commercial Motor, December 25, 1953), was delivered to V. W. Motors, Ltd., 7-9 St. James's Street, London, S.W.I. this week.

This particular example is now in the hands of Modern Light Cars, Ltd., Lodge Road, Southampton.

The Commercial Motor understands that the price will be £900 or less.
