LAST week a Leeds Corporation bus driver pleaded guilty at the City's police court to having failed to report an accident to the police, but he explained -that on the day after the accident he sent in a full report to the corporation's passenger-transport department. During his 17 years' service as a driver that was the procedure he had always followed in the case of slight accidents.
.The accident in question occurred when defendant's bus moved off while a woman was boarding the vehicle.
For the prosecution, a' police superintendent said that the driver should have reported the matter to the police or have given his name and address to the injured woman.
The summoni against the driver-was dismissed, under the Probation of Offenders Act, on paymat of 9s. costs. The touductress of the vehicle, .who pleaded guilty to riot having taken reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of passengers, was fined 10s. and ordered to pay Ss. costs. •
