WILLIAM GRAY, for 25 years secretary to the transport department of Manchester Corporation, has retired. Joining that undertaking in April. 1901, he was appointed minutes clerk in 1903, chief clerk in 1905, and secretary in 1918. Throughout his 41 years of service he has served under three general managers and has missed only one Committee -meeting.
Ms. FRANK Bistro!, has taken over the post of secretary of the .Devon and Cornwall Area of Associated , Road Operators, in succession to Mr.
1Corman J. Bennett, who has joined the Forces. He has over.20 years transport experience and first joined the stalf of A.R.O. in 1940 as organizer . for Cornwall, and Joint Cornwall Livestock Manager.' He was appointed manager of the, Plymouth Hauliers' National Traffic Pool in February, 1942.
MR. A. V. OAK has been appointed to the Board of -Morris Motors, Ltd., and takes the title of , director and chief engineer. He has a long list of designing successes to his credit. Doring the 1914-18 war he was chief inspectbr to a large Government factory in the north, but when hostilities were over he rejoined. the 1,Volseley concern on the designing staff, and after a few years took control Of the designing department. He was transferred to Cowley
to become chief engineer in 1936. .
M. W. T. DAI.TON, chief engineer, has tendered his resignation after 41 years with Newcastle-on-Tyne Transport and Electricity, Undertaking. In . 1901 he was appointed assistant electrical engineer to Newcastle Corporathan and has served under four general managers. Two days before his appointment with the municipality; tram services were started in the city, and Mr. Dalton has witnessed the change-over of a large part of the system_to trolleybuses and motorbuses.
MR. ARTHUR C. RICHARDS, chairman and managing director of the Acro Piston Ring Co.., Ltd., Leeds, has been elected chairman of-the Yorkshire Division of the Institute of the Motor Trade, in connection with the Division's resuscitation after inactivity since the outbreak of war.
