PASSENGER TRANSPORT ASSOCIATIONS MAY MERGE

AMERGER is proposed between the Omnibus -Owners Association and the Public Service Transport Association, and discussions regarding this have already taken place. On many occasions during the war the:organizations representative of the passengertransport side of the industry have taken joint -action, and it has become clear that the two associations have • -interests which are, in the main, identical,

The merger has been generally approved by the respective Councils, and the name proposed for the joint Association is "The Public Transport Association Incorporated." The scheme provides for the winding up of both the existing bodies. When final details have been settled, approval will be asked for from the members of the respective organizations. ■ It is believed that this new Association will represent at least 39,000 passenger vehicles, in addition to those of London Transport.
