Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Hayley Pink WEST MIDLANDS-based Sheldon Clayton Logistics has acquired Intuitive Logistics and Mike Williams Haulage (Telford), taking the group’s tally of takeovers in the past three years to nine (see box).

The haulier has been following a “growth by acquisition and merger strategy” since 2008, targeting irms with a turnover of between £1m and £4m. Current turnover stands at £18m a year, with an aim to increase it to £20m in the next 12 months.

Chairman and founder Dave Sheldon says: “Intuitive was a great it with our Scottish operation and Mike Williams is only 25 miles away from our West Bromwich hub.” Intuitive will be merged with Sheldon’s Scottish arm, Freight Solutions Scotland, rebranding as Intuitive Freight Solutions. All staff will transfer across, with Intuitive’s owner Crawford Wright appointed as divisional director for Scotland.

Mike Williams Haulage will continue to trade under its own name, with owner Mike Williams remaining with the business.

Sheldon Clayton starts building work on a new 50,000ft2 hub in January at its West Midlands site, while Sheldon Clayton Ireland opens in Dublin in March 2012.
