NFT’s 2011 winter preparation includes: ● creating a crisis team for adverse weather, which includes central administration, customer services, transport planning, warehouse operations and depot general managers; ● snow plough attachments for forklift trucks at all depots; ● a formal code of conduct outlining key safety principles; ● all depots engaging with suppliers in areas most likely to experience poor weather to ensure they have adequate plans in place to mitigate the effect of the weather; ● a contingency plan for stock holding; ● reserve stocks of fuel and salt and redeployment of fleet to assist those areas worst affected; ● additional managers from central functions earmarked to provide additional operational support as required.
