Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LONGTHORNES Transport is exactly right about the possible truck ban in Otley which could have serious economic consequences for both hauliers and quarry operators (CM 24 November).

However, you must have sympathy with Otley residents, because their town is patently unsuitable for HGV traffic. In many years of driving in France and Germany I've never seen anywhere like Otley which hasn't been bypassed on all sides to allow the free movement of commercial traffic.

lean see why Leeds councillors are in favour of a ban now after so many years of protests, because the elections are to be held next year —but whether they will get support from neighbouring local authorities is a different matter. For Otley to gain, somewhere else has to lose out.
