Thieves have made off with two trailers and their

£500,000 loads. David Harris reports.

DETECTIVES ARE hunting thieves who stole two trailer-loads of Sony Playstation 2 consoles worth £500,000 from a secure goods yard in Felixstowe. Suffolk. The thieves, who were driving white tractor units, tricked their way past security guards and drove off with the loads unopposed.

The blue Norfolk Line curtainsiders have since been found minus their loads.

A reward of up to £50,000 is on offer for information leading to the arrest and charge of the thieves, and the recovery of the consoles. Truck Pol, the specialist police unit set up to combat road freight crime, says the theft of HGVs and their loads now costs the British economy fl bn a year.
