Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

of the month

CHRISTOPHER MORRIS of Widnes Skips has been named driver of the month by the Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) scheme which was set up for aggregates drivers.

Morris is one of 15 drivers from the Widnes, Cheshire-based firm to have completed the scheme in the past three months. It is designed to heighten awareness of safety and fuel consumption.

Graham Richardson, transport manager for Widnes Skips, says fuel economy has improved since all the company's drivers completed the SAFE') course. "It has focused their minds a bit more, although it's too early to see big improvements." he says.

The company is now considering putting one of its drivers through SAFED's assessor training scheme so the fuel saving techniques can be passed on in-house to new employees.

In one test Morris recorded a 14% reduction in fuel used and a 50% reduction in gear changes.

The training programme is being funded under the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund. It is an extension of the government-funded SAFED 'driverdevelopment scheme'.
