Gerald Knowles, managing director of Knowles Transport of Wimblington and Wisbech Roadways, died suddenly last week aged 73.
He started Knowles Transport 56 years ago with a Model T Ford, and saw it grow into one of the largest private road haulage companies in East Anglia. running 60 artics and 100 trailers. He is survived by his sons Gerald Junior and Tony, and wife Flo.
