Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As we mentioned at the start of the story, we invited a couple of real van operators to give us their verdicts.

• Steve Cobbold, pictured right, is the group transport manager of the Alpha Airports Group. His 650-strong fleet serves airports from the US to Jordan. In the UK it ranges from Smart cars for air-side personnel transport to 26-tonners for airport retail operations, and includes 160 vans.

• Giles Margerison, on the left, is manager of Ryder's busy North Feltham branch, serving the Heathrow area. His fleet comprises around 150 daily rental and 300 long-term lease vehicles, and the branch also manages the Royal Berkshire Fire Brigade's 80-strong fleet. Around 10% of his vehicles are panel vans.
